Say you're happy now...

Once More with Feeling!

So I am pretty ecstatic in a very geeky way. I took this "Which Musical are You" quiz online and, lo and behold, I am Once More with Feeling - the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Which is totally great and I actually spent an hour today singing along to the soundtrack in my car. Ok, so not a real musical, but it should be.

Woot.

How to treat a woman

I crack me up...

To officially toot my own horn - I crack me up.

I've been sorting through old e-mails lately and somehow that led me to my blogs - which I have since been reading. Man, there is some funny stuff in there. 1) because I must really like my own sense of humor (I know, right?) and 2) I mean, does this stuff really happen to me?

I'm glad I blog about some of the better bits, because I sure am not going to remember them. It makes me a bit dissappointed that I excluded other stories. You know, the things you want your kids to never believe that you did when you were young - like auditioning for American Idol. That was a trip.

So, I guess the only thing for it is to try to blog more.

Oh! Lastly, an update on a blog from years past: On the newest Forbes Fictional 15 (richest) list Scrooge McDuck has moved to #1! Here's to the inflated cost of gold. :)

Why Hamlet is so much better than Romeo and Juliet...

Recent observation:

Hamlet, Macbeth... basically all of Shakespeare's tragedies are so much cooler than Romeo and Juliet. Here's my hypothesis as to why:

Romance's don't make good tragedies... they're tragic enough in real life.

Keep Romance in the comedies, Willy.

From Within

Our campus has been taken over by a film crew!

The cast and crew of From Within - a indi horror film - have set up shop in Perry Point. They have converted one of the streets into something that it looks like someone would actually live on and have been doing such fun things as crashing cars into trees and setting up love/death scenes in the Village.

Crazy, no? I always said this place looked like something out of a horror film. Well, now it is going to be something in a horror film.

Desk Job...

I love my "desk" job. Only in NCCC would an otherwise office-based job involve spending a week and a half on an airboat clearing debris and trees from the swamp. Yeah. So, I enjoy being the fun aunt because 1) I get to spend a week playing around in a swamp and living in New Orleans and 2) at the end of it, I get to give them back to their daddy and peace out. It's all the fun of manual labor without really having to deal with any of the team drama. Nice.

TL, part deux

In the way that NCCC does, things changed last Friday evening. Where I was going to be the only STLUDA in Perry Point, I found out Friday that instead I was going to be traveling down to NOLA leading Wolf 5 for a couple weeks. The bad news was that that meant that I had like 5 jobs to do (and cram into 3 very long days), but the good news is that I got to chill on the road and stay in hotels for 2 nights.

Sidebar: I've never read a romance novel in my life, until driving two days ago. I managed that day to read the entirety of One Night Wife, a Harlequin Romance. It's funny. That curiosity has now been satiated. I don't think I ever need to read another romance novel... although they do read very quickly (note that I - who reads very slowly - finished an entire book in less than 8 hours). One bit of annoyance however: if I have to read one more description of a dudes freakin' blue-grey eyes, I think I will jab my eyes out. Seriously, author lady, women like eyes, but not that much!

So here I find myself back in NOLA and back leading a team. Weird. In some sense it's easy and in some sense it's totally tangential from what my life has become. Either way, it's fun being in NOLA for a couple weeks and it's great seeing that - even since I was last here in August - more things are being be built and rebuilt.

Diary of a Site Visit (the drinking game)

If you liked Diary of a Site Visit, you'll love Diary of a Site Visit: The Drinking Game!

Drink every time I get a call from a TL
Drink every time I cross a state border (and cheer, of course)
Drink every time events happen within 5 minutes of each other
Drink every time I eat something

If any two or more of the following happen simultaneously (eg: a TL calls me within 5 minutes of another event), drink to the bottom and refill.

If you aren't totally sloshed... you didn't read my blog.

Peace y'all,
Ali
